Flooding and industrialization along the Winnipeg River brought dramatic changes, dams, disruption of the river flows, flooding, pollution and the blasting of new channels on Niisaachewan Anishinaabe territory. The community of Niisaachewen and Ontario Power Generation are now seeking ways to ensure relationship building is renewed and on-going that involves all community members. These “new” relationships are hoped to be rebuilt based on trust and respect but exploring what caused the flooding and why is an important key component to mending the relationship.
