10,000 Steps Challenge for Staff
October 1 – 31

Did you know that people who walk on a regular basis have increased muscle strength, higher energy levels and improved health and well-being? Walking helps reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Health professionals recommend walking at least 10,000 steps a day to achieve those benefits. There are steps conversion tables available for those who prefer to bike or for individuals with physical challenges.

So, get ready to move because we are launching a 10,000 Step Challenge for staff at U of T!

You can do it! There are lots of ways to sneak more steps into your day. Take the stairs, walk at lunch or on your coffee break, walk the dog, or take a few steps while meeting online or have a walking meeting in person. Above all, walk your way to a free team lunch!

Instructions

This challenge will be managed by Incentfit with a maximum of eight staff members per team. To join the challenge, follow these steps:

  1. Create a team
  2. Choose a team name
  3. Appoint a team captain
  4. The team captain will need to register their team no later than 5 p.m. on September 24th. Please note, the deadline cannot be extended.

Weekly Reporting

You will be able to record your steps using your own personal device, pedometer etc. via many iOS/android apps that Incentfit supports, or enter steps manually, at least weekly, on the site every Monday for the previous week. While this will be on the honour system, please make sure we can verify your results, so if it’s not trackable, make sure to take a picture before you reset!

More information will be provided before the October 1st start date when tracking begins.
