Re: | Possible City of Toronto Labour Disruption |
As many of you know, as of 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 24, the City of Toronto may be facing a labour disruption with its workers in CUPE Local 79. As this labour disruption would close over 50 city-run daycare centres, this will inevitably cause some difficulties for any of our employees who have children attending these centres. As a result, I am writing to ask you to be flexible and sensitive to these employees who would be required to seek alternative child care arrangements in the event of a strike.
The University’s Family Care Office (FCO) is a good source of information about alternate child care options and community resources and I encourage you to recommend that staff and faculty contact this office for assistance. The Office can be contacted by phone at 416.978.0951, by email at family.care@utoronto.ca, or by accessing the FCO website at www.familycare.utoronto.ca.
Please note: the daycares located at the University of Toronto are not affected by this strike.
