|Re:||Volunteering for the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Am Games|
Please distribute widely.
Next summer, U of T will proudly play host to several Pan Am and Parapan Am Games events.
As a Toronto 2015 supporter, we are encouraging the University community to get involved and help our community host the world. Producing such a massive event takes work and a lot of help – it is estimated that over 20,000 volunteers are needed to support everything from pre-Games planning to senior event leadership roles.
How can I get involved?
If you are interested in volunteering with the Games, you can apply via the Toronto 2015 website.
Please ensure that you use the VOLUOFT code in your application. This will ensure that you are labelled as a U of employee, and in turn, ensures that we can include you in post-Games recognition initiatives for employees.
If you have already filled out an application to volunteer and wish to update your file so that you are identified as a U of T employee, please call the TO2015 Call Centre at 416.957.2015. Unfortunately, records cannot be updated retroactively online.
Please note that volunteers are screened and assigned by the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games Toronto 2015 organization. The University does not play a role in the selection nor assignment of volunteers to particular roles or venues.
Would I be paid by the University while volunteering for the Games?
Employees who choose to volunteer can use vacation time, banked overtime, or personal days (to the extent that these are available), to cover absences due to volunteering for the Games. Managers are encouraged to support their employees’ interest in being a part of the Games.
Are there other ways to get involved?
The University is in the process of discussing alternate ways to volunteer and will be communicating further about these options as we approach the Games. Opportunities to recognize the contributions of employees who play a part in Toronto 2015 are also being explored.
When are the Games?
Pan Am Games July 10-26, 2015
Parapan Am Games August 7-15, 2015
What are the U of T venues?

The CIBC Pan Am / Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House (Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre) will feature diving, fencing, swimming, synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon and sitting volleyball (Parapan Am Games).
