I am sure that many of you feel overwhelmed with the communications that have been arriving this week – but I do want to provide an update since there is no PDAD&C meeting this week.
CUPE Unit 3 (Sessional Lecturers) have sent their tentative agreement to the full membership for a ratification vote. We hope to receive the outcome of that vote within the next few days.
We remain in contact with the provincial mediator regarding CUPE Unit 1 and are advised that as soon as he thinks there is a basis to return to the bargaining table he will invite the parties to do so. We have indicated that we are, of course, prepared to accept that invitation.
In the meantime, thank you for doing everything you can to minimize the impact on our students. Work disruptions like these are extremely difficult. At the end of the day, however, we will all have to find ways to work together harmoniously and to do so in a manner that respects the individual choices that members of our community have made.
Thank you for your patience and thank you – and your departmental colleagues – for your commitment to our students.
