Once again we have the opportunity to recognize the outstanding achievements of U of T staff and I encourage you to take a few minutes to nominate a colleague for a 2014 Excellence Through Innovation Award today.
This program is an excellent way to “identify and celebrate improved practices within every area of our work” and to let our employees know that their contributions are important.

Changes to this year’s program
Based on feedback from last year’s award recipients and a special advisory group we brought together to discuss promoting innovation (CAO’s and Division Leaders), we are introducing the following changes to the program:
- The program criteria were revised to ensure more inclusivity of general administrative roles.
- A new strategic objective, ‘Foster Community Connection Through Innovative Services’, was added to the program to better align with the President’s focus on Community.
- A new criterion – Cost Savings – was added to the list of program assessment criteria.
Please note that this year the Review Committee structure has changed. Going forward there will be two committees: the ‘ETIA Advisory Committee’ and the ‘ETIA Executive Committee’. The ETIA Advisory Committee will conduct the initial screening of all the nominations. The ETIA Executive committee will review the pre-assessed nominations and approves the final selection of recipients.
Deadline for nominations
Nomination forms for team or individual awards must be submitted to the nominator’s Division Head AND their HR Divisional Office by the extended deadline of October 3rd.
