Dear Colleagues,

Our community had to quickly shift and adapt to working at home, and we may need to continue to do so for the for some time. It is commendable and heartening to see how hard everyone has worked to maintain university business and to fulfil our core mission.

Leading and managing remotely is a new experience for many mangers at the University of Toronto and as such it presents challenges. The absence of face-to-face interaction, challenges in accessing information and technology, family care, and most notably in our current context, social isolation may be difficult for you and your team.

We created the Best Practices for Leading and Managing Remotely guide to assist managers. It includes some ideas for creating a successful, inclusive remote work experience, including how to organize work, set expectations, accommodate unique circumstances and inclusively support teams. This guide will be posted on the HR & Equity website, and it will be updating over the coming weeks as needed.
