|Re:||Launch of 2016 / 2017 Objective Setting Online Process for 1AP & 2AP (Program Managers)|
‘Objective Setting’ is an essential step in the annual review process linking staff members’ development, success and engagement together. This step includes the forward planning of objectives, expectations and development goals for the coming year.
A collaborative process, Objective Setting occurs between a staff member and their manager and should be discussed and agreed upon together. It provides individuals with greater clarity on expectations and increases engagement by creating a connection between their own work and a Division’s strategic objectives.
The Halogen Objective Setting tool is now available for pilot participants and their managers to record their objectives in the online system. Get started on this year’s online pilot process by visiting the Objective Setting web page.
More details on how to login to the Halogen system can be found on the Performance Management Process web page.
Thank you for your support with this important process.
What is the deadline for Objective Setting?
Please ensure to have your objectives confirmed by your manager in Halogen by October 31, 2016.
What resources are available to assist with the Objective Setting process?
Prior to using the online tool, please review the Objective Setting resources to familiarize yourself with the process steps, performance planning details, SMART principles (PDF, 172 kB) and key dates as outlined on the Objective Setting web page.
If you have recorded your 2016 to 2017 objectives and tactics for the 2016 to 2017 fiscal year using a hard copy of the Objective Setting form, transfer this information into Halogen and submit the online form to your manager for review and approval.
While the Halogen system is an intuitive tool, as with any software the functionality takes a bit of getting used to. The Halogen Objective Setting Process Guides are available for employee and manager.
Do I need training in order to use the Halogen online system?
The Halogen tool is fairly intuitive and straight forward. Reference guides, providing detailed step-by-step instructions, are available on the Objective Setting web page.
Should you require more hands-on support with the Halogen tool, we will be providing an interactive workshop:
Thursday, August 18, 2016
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
256 McCaul Street, Rm 109
For this session participants can bring their objectives to input into the system with support and guidance from trained Halogen experts.
Registration for the workshop is required. Please RSVP by Wednesday, August 17 to firstname.lastname@example.org.
