I am very pleased to announce a new staffing update for the Strategic Initiatives team. Andrea Foster will be joining the team in the newly created role of Manager, HR Policy and Compliance effective August 1, 2020.
In this role, Andrea will work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop, implement and manage key policies, guidelines, and procedures that impact the University’s workforce. She will manage the HR policy and compliance team, ensuring consistent understanding, interpretation and application of University-wide policies and procedures. She will also participate on enterprise level projects representing the Division of HR & Equity, ensuring projects align to HR business needs, and are compliant with applicable policies and legislation.
Andrea brings to this new role several years of diverse and valuable experience from Brock University, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and the Ministry of Education. In her most recent role as Manager, Human Resources Advising at Brock University, she was responsible for ongoing implementation and improvements to the University’s Workday HRIS, interpreted and developed HR policies and legislation, and provided expertise and consultative direction on all HR related issues. Prior to this, Andrea was the Manager, Faculty Relations, where she worked closely with Brock University’s Faculty Association on interpretation and management of academic HR matters including dispute resolution. She holds a Master’s in Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor’s in Commerce from Lakehead University.
