October is our time to Celebrate It at U of T, our annual tri-campus celebration of Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month, which features events and activities to support staff in maintaining and improving their wellness at the University.
The wellness initiatives taking place this October include mental health, fitness, parenting, and financial management programming, as well as lunchtime walks. It also includes the fabled 10,000 Steps Challenge that encourages staff to sneak more steps into their day for the chance to win a free team lunch. “Workplace health promotion is about more than preventing illness, injuries and accidents,” says Teresa Scannell, Integrated Wellness Consultant, HR & Equity. “It’s a positive approach to maintaining and improving the health and well-being of an organization and its employees.”
The Integrated Wellness initiative, launched this July, will address the full spectrum of staff wellness needs, and enhances the coordination, collaboration and communication of wellness programs across U of T services and systems.
