Every year, I look forward to the U of T United Way Campaign. This season of gratitude is an opportunity to reflect on the United Way’s life-changing activities and the collective impact we can all have on our local communities.
United Way agencies play an important role in educating our students at U of T through service learning courses, job placements, internships, and practica. Our students gain first-hand experience at United Way agencies – serving the community, giving back to those in need, and learning skills that will empower them in the future.
As the National Survey of Student Engagement tells us, 75 percent of first-year undergraduate students have participated or intend to participate in community service or volunteer work before they graduate. Many of these students will become residents of the Greater Toronto Area, supporting everyday life in the Toronto region as teachers, professionals, workers, and caregivers.
The University of Toronto is reimagining undergraduate education for the future. What better way to support those partner agencies who work tirelessly to help us inspire the next generation than to contribute through the U of T United Way Campaign!
I’m reminded of President Gertler’s three priorities, in particular his pledge to engage with the city around us. United Way-supported organizations are deeply committed to serving our community – making Toronto one of the world’s most vibrant, culturally diverse, and economically dynamic city-regions for our students, staff, faculty, and community members.
I hope you’ll join me and consider donating to this year’s annual U of T Campaign. To make the process easier, you can donate online here.
Should you prefer to donate by cheque, donation instructions are available on this webpage. For questions about the U of T Campaign, please contact the team at email@example.com.
